Did You Know You Can Get Our Botanical-Powered Mineral SPF Sunscreens with Your FSA/HSA Benefits?

That’s right—your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) can be used to buy clean, eco-conscious sun protection that’s FDA-approved and SIGIS-certified. Our Covered and Shaded SPF products are redefining sun protection as healthcare—while keeping it sustainable.

WHY OUR SPFs ARE FSA/HSA ELIGIBLE

Both Covered and Shaded mineral sunscreens meet strict standards to qualify as preventive care expenses.
FDA OTC Drug Approval with Labeler Code:

Our SPF formulations are approved by the FDA and have received an OTC drug labeler code, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements for safety and efficacy.

SIGIS Certification for FSA/HSA Payments:

We’ve gone the extra step to secure SIGIS certification, streamlining purchases for customers using their benefits cards. This means no prescriptions or extra paperwork are required to shop CoveredCare.

Mineral-Based, Botanical-Powered Formulations:

Designed with non-nano zinc oxide and enriched with botanical extracts, these sunscreens deliver high-performance SPF 40 protection while being gentle on sensitive skin.

Reef-Safe and Eco-Conscious Ingredients:

100% reef-safe formulations avoid harmful chemicals, protecting not only your skin but also marine ecosystems and coral reefs.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

What Are FSA & HSA Accounts?

FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) are financial tools designed to help individuals cover qualified medical expenses, including sunscreen, with pre-tax funds. While they share similarities, they serve slightly different purposes:

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

    • Provided by employers as part of a benefits package.

    • Allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars to cover eligible medical expenses.

    • Funds typically expire at the end of the plan year, so it’s important to use them before they reset.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

  • Available to individuals enrolled in a high-deductible health plan (HDHP).

  • Lets you save money tax-free for medical expenses—and unused funds roll over annually.

  • Unlike FSA, an HSA allows long-term accumulation, making it ideal for healthcare planning.

The FDA recognizes SPF as a preventive care product that reduces the risks of sunburn and skin cancer. Only SPF products meeting SPF 15+ and broad-spectrum requirements qualify. Our mineral sunscreens, Covered and Shaded, offer SPF 40 protection and are powered by zinc oxide, iron oxide, and titanium dioxide.

At this time, only Covered and Shaded meet the eligibility criteria as FDA-classified OTC drug products.

This is because Potency No. 710 mineral SPFs contain FDA-approved key ingredients whereas the active botanicals in some of our other formulations are not yet recognized by the FDA, but we’re working on that.

No prescription is needed to purchase Covered and Shaded SPF products. These FDA-recognized over-the-counter (OTC) sunscreens have received an official FDA labeler code and are approved as FSA-eligible SIGIS-certified products.

If your FSA/HSA card isn’t accepted, you can place your order at potency710.com and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Email us at potency710@gmail.com and we’ll provide all the necessary documentation for your provider.

Yes, FSA funds typically expire annually, so be sure to use them before your benefits reset. HSA funds, however, roll over yearly.
